Granting a licence
We are considering the possibility of granting a licence to schools for, say £50 to £100, for which they would be entitled to sell one of our knitting patterns to parents. We envisage this to be our knitting pattern for Eco-Items for HM Armed Forces action figures and we expect that the licence would be granted for 12 months.

Parents' roll
We antisipate that parents could be charged, say, £1 or £2 for the pattern by the school to ensure the fee is recovered. In return they would be expected to buy yarn and knit up one item of clothing to donate to school resources, along with the many, many things they will knit for their families. They could knit T-shirts for a five-a-side football team with numbers on the backs, to aid with numeracy and number skills adding up the goals. To ensure minimum duplication, we could supply a tick list of work in progress.

Public sales
We antisipate that some parents, and children and family members, could be interested in running a Knit and Sell stall at their Christmas and Summer fates. Within the 12 months of the licence, both could be included. Also as the yarn is not cheap, perhaps the cost of items for sale could be refunded to the parents by the school, leaving only profit. And perhaps some funding to buy a few HM Armed Forces action figures to encourage thought about the jobs soldiers have to do, and the family fun they have at home during their holidays.

But why bother?
This seemed a good idea to me because it looks like a 'win-win' situation. The school will get knitted items from a variety of people, using a variety of different coloured yarn. Nobody is pushed into doing all the knitting out of loyality, and nobody is knitting from one ball of yarn and therefore making items all of the same colour. Parents could swap unused yarn so as to introduce a wider variety of colours into their items without having to buy more yarn. Sales at the Christmas and Summer fates could help with fundraising for the school or perhaps a specific charity. And would also let those children, whose parents cannot knit, have a chance to buy some items. Oh... and I'll have some income too!

After the 12 month licence expires, well... we are open to suggestions.
